Citation codes: official wording beside ours
When an inspector cites a nursing home, CMS records it as a code — F-0689, K-0353 — with a short regulatory description. Facility pages on this site show a plain-language version instead, because the official wording is written for compliance staff, not families.
This page shows both, for all 643 codes, so you can check ours against CMS's. Our versions are drafted with AI tools from the official description. Every build verifies that no code is missing a translation — but that is a check for completeness, not for accuracy: we do not re-read all 643 against their official descriptions before each release. Rather than ask you to take our word for it, the source text is here. If one of ours drifts from the official meaning, tell us.
Only the plain-language wording is a translation. The "why it matters" line and the suggested question that appear beside a citation on a facility page are ours — they add context and are not restatements of anything CMS wrote.
